Notice of Race

1.0

RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 2009 – 2012
1.2 The prescriptions of the Barbados National Authority will not apply.
1.3 Pre event measurements will apply.
1.4 Rule 20.8 of the class rules is changed as follows:

Subject to the approval of the Committee a boat chartered or loaned for the events may be declared at the time of entry or registration a sail number which may be different from the registered number of the hull provided that the number declared shall not be the sail number of any other boat competing in the regatta.

1.5 Rule 23 the class rules ‘Limitations of Equipment’ will apply.
1.6 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.

2.0

INDENTIFICATION AND ADVERTISING

Boats may be required to display identification numbers and event sponsor advertising in compliance with ISAF Regulation 20.4.1.1.
3.0

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 All competitors shall comply with RRS 75. The regatta is open to boats of the International Fireball Class whose helmsman and crew are members of a National Fireball Class Association recognized by Fireball International or Fireball International if there is no NCA in the boats country.
3.2 Late entries will be accepted up to 25 April, 2010.
3.3 Classic Boats

Classic Boats will be determined during the measurement procedure.

A list of sail numbers will be published and displayed on the official notice board prior to the first race of the World Championship.

5.3 The numbers of races scheduled are as follows:

International Week Championship Number of Races: 8 (2 per day)

World Championship Number of Races: 10 (2 per day)

One extra race per day may be sailed if races are not completed as scheduled.

5.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race of the International Week Championship is 13.00, 26th April, 2010.

The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race of the World Championship is 13.00, 2nd May, 2010.

On the last day of the World Championship no warning signal will be made after 15.00.

6.0

MEASUREMENT

Each boat shall have a valid measurement certificate. All boats and equipment shall be presented for pre-event measurement according to the Measurement Instructions, which will be a part of the Sailing Instructions. Random measurement checks will be carried out during the event.

7.0

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

8.0

VENUE

8.1 Barbados Yacht Club, Bridgetown.
8.2 Internet Website shows the location of the regatta centre and the racing area.

9.0

THE COURSE

The courses to be sailed will be described in the Sailing Instructions.

10.0

INTERNATIONAL JURY

An International Jury in accordance with RRS Appendix N will be appointed by Fireball International. Its decisions will be final as provided in rule 70.5.

11.0

SCORING

11.1 1 race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

(a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

(b) When from 5 to 8 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

(c) The World Championship, when 9 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

12.0

SUPPORT BOATS

Support boats shall register at the race office. All registered support boats will carry identification as required by the Organising Authority and shall comply with support boat regulations posted on the notice board.

13.0

BERTHING

Boats shall be kept in the assigned area in the dinghy park.

14.0

RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS

By participating in these Championships a competitor automatically grants to the organizing authority and its sponsors the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him or her during the period of the competition, without compensation.

15.0

RADIO COMMUNICATION

A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

16.0

PRIZES

16.1 International Week Championship

Prizes will also be awarded to the first 3 boats in the International Week Championship.

Other prizes may be awarded.

16.2 World Championship

16.3 Prizes will also be awarded to the first 10% + 1 boats in the World Championship.

Other prizes may be awarded.

17.0

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

17.1 The competitors are entirely responsible for their own safety, whether afloat or ashore and nothing, whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else reduces this responsibility.
17.2 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority, Barbados Sailing Association, Barbados Yacht Club, International Jury, Principle Race Officer will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to during, or after the regatta.

18.0

INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with adequate third-party liability insurance.
